Since officially moving into the space on Friday, the team has been working hard to transform Closet Circuit into the MUSUEM OF GARBAGE Istanbul. Much thanks goes out to the friends who joined us over the weekend in initial prep of the exhibition (and to Barbara, our Mama Nicolai, for baking some delicious cake for us all). Our photographer and videographer, Katinka, arrives on Wednesday, and we are excited to keep moving along with installing and preparing for the opening on the 19th of March (more details to come). Here is just a quick update about the ways we are reaching out about the exhibition and about possible feedback, leading up to the exhibition: Garbage Flyers: Rather than printing flyers to hand out and distribute, we are creating ‘garbage’ flyers. We have made a stamp showing information and details on the exhibition and will be stamping discarded cardboard or leftover paper as a form of flyers. These garbage flyers will be distributed soon to spread the word! Feedback Postcards: We have almost finished our ‘this is not garbage’ feedback postcards. These postcards have a few questions for you to answer and a space to include a small drawing or story about garbage. We are asking that the postcards be sent back, so we can display them in the pop-up café throughout the run of the exhibition. They will serve as a source of feedback and dialogue for the project, and we hope they will help inform conclusions or possible futures for the MUSEUM OF GARBAGE. If you would like to contribute to the exhibition through completing a postcard, contact or email us and we will get one to you (or send you one electronically to fill out and scan back!) Finally, our press release went out this weekend to several blogs about upcoming events in Istanbul. We are very excited and thankful to be included on several sites, and you can check out the pages here: Yesilist http://www.yesilist.com/english/cms.php?u=museum-of-garbage-an-exhibition-of-waste-in-istanbul&id=950 Yabangee http://yabangee.com/2015/03/next-week-museum-garbage-closed-circuit/ The Exhibist http://www.exhibist.com/index.php/exhibitions/future |
