With the exhibition opening on the nineteenth, things are beginning to buzz! Especially in the last two weeks, the network of collaborators has been coming together in preparations for the install and opening. Jessica, Olivia, and I met with the owner and manager of Closet Circuit, Ülkü, to view the space and talk about the layout and possibilities for a pop-up cafe and feedback room. To help spread the word about the exhibition, Jess and Olivia have been working intensively with Judith to finalize design images for the poster and online publicity. Posters should be up around Çihangir by next week! Also in developing publicity and awareness, I have been working with Jess and Olivia on distribution items. Instead of a paper flyer, we are designing two items that we hope will be more lasting and useful beyond publicity: drink-coasters stamped with our design image and also “this is not garbage” postcards, which will serve as a platform for feedback and contribution. Lastly, a sign that things are getting close to opening, our space designer, Steffi, arrived from Germany this week! We have been finalizing preparation as we get ready to start installing in the space this weekend. All in all, things are coming together, and there is a shared energy of enthusiasm for the coming weeks. We are excited to start sharing our project through the exhibition! |
